This gave us one support for the 10” elevated laminate shelf. We then attached the 1×2 pine board (painted gray) to the overlapping metal plate. Next, we screwed metal plates to the underside of the countertop so that about an inch overlapped. We used a circular saw with a blade with plenty of teeth (lots of research online) using blue painter’s tape to prevent chipping.

Since it doesn’t span the entire depth of the washer and dryer, we decided to create another shelf to cover the gap, with it placed slightly elevated from the countertop.įirst we cut the laminate countertop to the right size for the shelf.
